Can I define the permission of a folder that I share with others?

If you share your folder via the Add people option, you can add different permissions for each member by clicking the Modify button next to each member and choosing the correct permissions from the list. You can define who can comment (and also see comments) or modify the shared files within the folder, who can create download and upload links, and who can manage share.

If you allow other users to comment (and see comments), they can add comments and see comments from other users in shared Office files (Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint). To add comments, open the Office file and click on the Comments button in the upper right corner of the document.

If you allow other users to modify the shared files, they can edit the shared Office files (Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint).

If you allow other users to create download links, they can share files or folders in the shared folder via the Send link option. If you allow other users to create upload links, they can create the link to enable others to add files to your chosen folder (i.e., the Receive file option.

If you allow other users to manage share, they can add other users to the shared folder, remove users with whom the folder has already been shared, or modify their permissions.

Note: Permissions are granted for the entire shared folder at once, they are not subfolder or file specific.

Note: Editing Office files requires a paid account, even if those files are shared with others by a paid account (the person editing them needs a paid account).

Note: Multiple people cannot edit the Office files at once, so if one person has the file opened and editing, other people will only be able to view it or make a copy.
